What do you think? Was the universe created, or did it evolve?

Darwin's theory of evolution is summarized on Wikipedia:

The theory states that all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.

The theory says that an inherited variation when positive, makes the survival of the improved species more probable. Thus, via survival of the fittest, species can evolve gradually over time and evolve to improve. Those who believe in evolution will look to the Bible account of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden as a flowery story or a fairy tale. Evolution is considered reliable science and the Bible is to be dismissed.

But does it follow that disbelief in the Bible makes evolution true? I believe disbelief in the Bible makes evolution your belief ...by default.... as an alternative to creation.

The Bible says God (and Jesus who is God) Created all things:

Colossians 1:16

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

Hebrews 11:3

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible

John 1:1–3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.

Can we believe in creation? I do. I can see problems with the theory of evolution.

There is a little matter of this thing called DNA. Humans and animals have DNA which determines what that a species will be. The DNA of a horse can't change to the DNA of a human. A horse will give birth to a horse. It has to because of its' DNA.

Maybe due to environment, the horse's mane or coat of hair might become thicker or different colors. I can agree with the argument that some slight modifications are possible. But typically, aberrations in DNA would largely be defects and not improvements. I think it takes a lot of 'faith' to believe in upward changes and evolution of a DNA chain. It seems to me that the theory of evolution may conflict with what we know about the science of DNA?

To me it also takes faith that the simple can evolve to be complex. Explain how a single cell organism in a pool of 'primordial goo' evolves and rises to the complexity of a human being? Well, it is said, it is a super slow thing over millions of years. Wow, that would be thousands and thousands of 'happy accidents'. What are the odds of that? The theory of evolution is treated as fact, but in the end, it is still only a theory.

Rather, I see the complexity of the universe is evidence of creation over evolution. Take the example of a Mercedes Benz automobile. Tires, wheels, brakes, brake lines, engine, transmission, body, seats, windows, thousands of parts that are put together into a beautiful machine with all the parts working together. Would it be more likely that this complex vehicle evolved from a lump of iron, or is it more likely to have been fashioned by a creator? It is clear that it had a creator.

I see galaxies spinning in a heavenly dance, the sun setting, and the moon rising. The waters rain down and fill the oceans and rivers, then evaporate and rain again. The planets revolve around the sun and the moon around the earth in a poetic manner. There is a cycle of life. There are rhythms in nature. Species are born, live, and die. And new life springs from the old. There is much order.

Psalm 139:14

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made"

Each human has a vascular system of blood coursing through our veins. The food we eat, the air we breathe goes through systems of lungs to provide oxygen, and a digestive system to provide nutrients to the blood. We have a skeletal system, a system of muscles, nerves, lymph nodes, and organs performing many functions. We experience sight, touch, scent, sounds, and taste through more systems. All the thousands of parts and pieces combine together to be a beautiful human being. It seems to me that this is very similar to that Mercedes Benz. Doesn't something this complex also point to a creator who made it?

I don't feel foolish believing the complexity of the universe, the cycles in nature, the intricate construction of humans and other species points to a creator.

I believe the Bible when it says God created the heavens and the earth. Seems to me it takes more 'faith' to believe in evolution than creationism.

Call me a fool, but I just can't picture how super complex beings are supposedly randomly put together by some happy accidents of evolution?
